Never profess your own status as a hipster. Hipsters refuse the use of labels to punctuate their rejection of social norms. If someone else tries to call you a hipster, remind them of your choice to denounce labels.

*Calling another person a hipster is also unacceptable.

Only obey traffic laws that are expressed using neon colors. The color of street signage indicates which demographic should pay attention to the instruction posted. Neon is nontraditional, alternative, and a fucking pain to look at. Just like a hipstr walking by.

Cover yourself in meaningless tattoos that are put on your body when you are bored/aren’t getting enough attention from the people around you.  Make sure that these ironic tattoos are put in places on your body where people are forced to look at them and therefore ask about them. 

Depending on your mood and level of dedication to the hipstr lifestyle, it is acceptable to have some completely irrelevant tattoos in addition to tattoos that actually have meaning to you as a human being.  Regardless, never let people know that these things mean anything to you.  Having a heart is seen as a weakness.

Make people wait.  Whether you are meeting up with friends for coffee, going to a super-hipstr electronic music festival, or assisting a friend in need…ALWAYS be late. 

This will ensure that you are seen as having a very demanding schedule, and that you are taking time out of your important life to grace your social circle with your presence.  Being on time is seen as trying too hard to please people and meet their expectations, and you wouldn’t want to be seen as committed to things like friendship and reliability.
